ABOUT US
why we care
Hello, I’m Alexandra Liang, the founder of Little Wild Ones, an intentional home-based preschool based in San Mateo, California. The idea for Little Wild Ones emerged from a personal desire to create a safe, nurturing and balanced environment for our own children.
Our son Maison was born in 2020, and at four-months-old was diagnosed with dysphagia requiring a demanding, around-the-clock development plan. Naturally, when my husband Vince and I considered returning to work after the pandemic, we were faced with questions about childcare. We decided that it was best for me to stay home to care for Maison. It was in these beautiful, ordinary days with our son and eventually our daughter, Joie, that opened my eyes to see a much bigger need than just physical care.
This personal experience sparked a three-year journey in studying and practicing whole-child development in our household. Both Vince and I benefited from a progressive learning philosophy in our own upbringings that inspired us to dig deeper. So in 2021, I went back to school to pursue my Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from City College of SF.
Having spoken to countless friends, neighbors and parents over the years, I’ve learned that our vision for our children is shared by many other parents in the Bay Area, who are seeking an intentional & comprehensive play-based curriculum that will prepare their children to thrive. At Little Wild Ones, we aim to nurture the whole child—across cognitive, social, emotional and physical needs. Our commitment is to care for every child that enters into our space as our own. I look forward to meeting you and your little ones soon.
